It is because of dedicated volunteers and major contributors like Jerry Brock and Ira Fulton that we can render support to our alma mater.
A Letter from the Buffalo Foundation
During calendar year 2018, the Buffalo Foundation approved over $13,000 in funding to support the following programs at Tempe High School:
• Girls Soccer • Nurses Office supplies • All City Dues • Fees for Invitational track meets • Special Education • Wrestling • Boys Basketball • Student Council Training • Cheer • Football • Cross Country • Teacher Appreciation Breakfast • Class Council Senior Breakfast • Art (Ceramics) class – Bowl fundraiser program
In the 1980’s, the District or school would pay for many of these types of expenses – with parents paying the difference, but school budgets no longer support these types of expenses.
Today, in more affluent schools, parents and booster clubs pay for these expenses to ensure that their children have rewarding enrichment activities; but many parents of Tempe High School students cannot afford the rising costs of extracurricular activities. That’s where the Buffalo Foundation comes in – to give deserving students an opportunity to have the same types of enriching experiences as students at other schools.
